Every morning begins a new opportunity to set your intention for a positive day. As you progress through your weight loss program, it sometimes doesn’t feel like you have total control over your progress. Things come up throughout the week, challenges arise, and before you know it you may be two or three days into poor eating habits that are threatening to undo any of the progress you’ve made towards your weight loss goals.

Waking up with positive weight loss habits can really help you take back that feeling of control over your weight loss program, and it doesn’t take a whole lot of time or effort to make these few small changes.

Here are a few ways that you can set yourself up for weight loss success every morning:

  • Prepare your breakfast the night before so you aren’t working from scratch in the morning. Put together a bag of everything you’d put in your smoothie and keep it in the freezer, or boil an egg the night before so that you are ready to go quick and easy and can get out the door without feeling hungry or stressed from the start.
  • Pour yourself a massive glass of ice water before you go to bed and keep it by you all night so that you can drink some water as soon as you wake up in the morning. Invest in a 12-hour water bottle that will keep the water ice cold all night long, and start your day off with this positive healthy habit.
  • If you need a bit of caffeine to get yourself out the door in the morning, then prepare your mug the night before and have a plan as to how you are going to prepare it healthily. Get yourself some fat-free or sugar-free creamer, or test out different add-ins like almond milk to see if you can cut calories from your diet before you even start your day.

Starting the day off with healthy habits can help you to feel more confident and positive about your weight loss program, and that can make all the difference when it comes down to losing those pounds. Taking your weight loss program one day at a time is the best way to ensure long-term success. Other healthy habits that you ought to try in the morning include eating a breakfast that is rich in protein, to pack yourself a healthy lunch that will prevent you from finding a drive-thru line, and doing your best to fit in a few minutes of exercise before even heading out the door to go to work.
